Hi!
When it's 85 degrees on the West Coast it's hard to believe that Thanksgiving and the holiday season are almost here!
Big Holiday Promotions - Prints, Photo Gifts, Cameras & Software
I've found that the holiday season is the best time to take advantage of the great deals on photo gifts and printing, digital cameras, and the newest releases of photo imaging software. With the economic woes, the promotions seem better than ever as retailers try to drive sales. This can mean big savings for you. I've scoured around for the current offers. Here are some highlights; see below for more savings:

Adobe Photoshop Elements 7 Released
In October Adobe released Photoshop Elements 7. If you have an older version, it is worth the upgrade and if you are looking for new software, I can highly recommend Elements 7. There are some excellent new features. Highlights:
- As before there are three editing modes: Quick Fix, Guided Editing and Full Edit. A new Touch-Up panel in Quick Fix includes a new one-step Blue Skies Smart Brush to improve dull skies and a Toothbrush Quick Fix to whiten teeth in one step. One of the best new features is the Scene Cleaner, which can be found in the Guided Editing Mode. It makes it simple to clean your image of unwanted elements like cars, garbage cans, people etc. The trick is you'll need two similar images. You draw a line over the element you want removed and the software fills in the empty area will elements from your other image. It works quite well.
- The new “action player” gives you a series of pre-recorded macros to perform the same series of edits on multiple images. The only drawback is you cannot record your own, you either have to use the ones that come with Elements or you can find more online.
- The Full Edit Function operates similar to Photoshop with layers and advanced editing tools and filters. There is a new Smart Brush, allowing you to choose from almost a dozen preset brushes to select and apply contrast or brightness to certain areas of an image.
- The major new feature is the introduction of an online service, Photoshop.com. The basic free membership gives you 5 GB storage plus interactive sharing and access to your photos from any computer. There is a paid membership that offers tutorials, artwork, templates and more plus 20GB storage and automatic backup. This service is $49.99 per year.
You can get more information and download a Free Trial of Photoshop Elements 7 from Adobe

Holiday Gift Ideas
With the tough economy we are all looking for ways to save money. I have found that photo gifts can be a great way to give someone a personalized gift without it costing a bundle.
One of my favorite gifts is a personalized calendar. It has become a tradition for me to make unique photo calendars for every child in my extended family. I collect the photos I've taken throughout the year and then create a personalized calendar with photos of each child. For instance, I have nephews who enjoy spending time on the lake and wake boarding. I created calendars of them fishing, playing with the dogs in the water and wake boarding. What a unique gift, one that they can appreciate throughout the year. With the discount I got at Shutterfly, each calendar cost me only $10 after paying regular price for the first one -- I made 9 of them! You can make calendars online at a photo service like Shutterfly or Snapfish or using your own software like Photoshop Elements or Paintshop Pro. Tip: Shutterfly will be offering BIG SAVINGS on photo calendars again starting Nov 25. Check this page on Nov 25 for the coupon code (I can't post it yet) : www.digitalphotos101.com/shutterfly-review.htm
A Photo Book is another great inexpensive gift. I have a friend who hosts an annual Christmas tea. This year I am making her a photo book with photos from the previous teas. Before I create it, I'll check the various photo deals and choose the best one. Right now I could get free shipping on it from Photoworks or Snapfish or save 20% at Kodak. Be sure to check my home page often - www.digitalphotos101.com because I list all the current photo sales.
